You, The Camping Television Star!

Did you ever think that you knew so much about camping that you could teach the world? Have you ever thought that you would like to share your own camping experiences with others? You just might be the person to do that. And, imagine having your own experiences and advice to be aired right on Time Warner and on Cablevision. Have you thought of that?

So many times I have thought of that yet, I have not really put together an in-depth camping show. Yet, that might be in the making for this coming season. But this article is not really about the shows or about seeing camping things on television. This article is just a helpful hints article, giving you a few more ideas about camping. By reading here, you just might find some extra insights, some extra ideas, and thoughtful helpful hints about the subject of camping.

These ideas or suggestions might make your camping experience more joyful and less work:

Two of the most important tenting helpful hints that I can share are these:

1. Never leave a tent unattended that has not been staked down. I've had the experience of leaving a large tent [seven feet high at the center] literally fly away after I moved about six inches from the tent to grab the stakes. The tent was completely put together-with the fly attached, and in one split second, on a day that had 'no' wind, a slight breeze came by and grabbed the tent up into the air.

I was surprised to see such a large tent fly away. If I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't have believed it possible. After all, how many of us have tried to get little kites up into the air with not much success? And here is this seven foot tent flying by.

I chased the tent [it flew OVER a fence] and brought it back to my campsite, and started all over. This time I kept a hold of the tent until I had put one stake in the ground and anchored it to the tent.

Now I know how some people get little holes in their tents [They've probably retrieved the tents over sharp fences while the tent was flying away].

So, number one, hold onto that tent until it's properly secured to the ground.

2. Never bring food inside your tent. Food attracts animals. You and your tent will be safe if you don't bring your food or snacks inside your tent.

If you are camping at Hecksher State Park, always bring some way to lock your tent. It has been my experience that while I was away from the tent, some little children, not related to me or my family, were experimenting and exploring inside of my tent while I was gone. How did I discover this? I came back and caught them coming out of my tent. Luckily, nothing of value was taken or broken. But what was broken was my seal against insects. While these children were inside the tent, they came in , left the tent door unsealed and thus let in some insects from the outside. So when camping at Hecksher or other somewhat more crowded campgrounds, bring something to lock your tent. This way when little ones are wandering around the campsite, they cannot enter your tent. You can lock the tent by using cable ties or by using luggage padlocks or by using string and knots. String and knots you say? Yes. A string, knotted might do the case where you have young toddlers or babies wandering around. Tie the knot at the top and the young ones cannot simply bend over and unzip the tent. Personally , I like the cable tie idea. This secures your tent and you will know for sure if anyone has been in your tent while you were away.

Why lock? The reasons are obvious. You are locking to secure your tent from insects, from spiders, and from all sorts of wild animals. Uninvited animals will wander into tents that are left open. And, uninvited children will wander in also. You do not leave any valuables inside your tent, so you are not locking valuables. That is why string or cable ties will work just as well as luggage locks. So that is just one more camping idea.

Where did you buy your tent or where will you buy your tent?

Some of the best places to buy good tents are close to you. Try these: Sports Authority Target Walmart or online at eBay.com Usually in the off-season, you can get great camping buys on tents and other items in a store called, Target. Just one note about that though. If you buy a sleeping bag at Target, open it up in parking lot just to check it. Once I bought a seventy dollar sleeping bag there and opened it up to find hair and a pretzel inside the bag. Yet the box looked as if it had not been opened and it was totally sealed with thick tape. So open your sleeping bag before you get home, just in case you need to exchange the item.

I'd steer clear of the children's pop-up tents. These seem harder to fold up than the larger regular tents. Sure, the tent pops open very quickly. But after that you can spend as much as thirty minutes trying to figure out how to pop it down and fold it up to put it back into its' carry bag. A regular child's or adult's tent can be just as cheap if you search around for the best buy or if you wait until 'off-season" to purchase your tents.

For serious campers, and those who will be camping out for the rest of their lives, I recommend EUREKA tents. These are wonderfully, beautifully-created tents that will make you smile. They are almost easily set up. And most of them will have that nice material floor instead of that hard crinkley floor that most other tents have.

Eureka tents are all material and no plastic. That makes a difference in your camping experience.Eureka tents can be expensive. But if you purchase off-season, you can get as much as fifty percent off the original price of a Eureka tent. And, the tents are brand new , not used.In my next article about camping, I will give you a list of some essential camping items and offer some other suggestions about camping.

Now, what about being a television star? How do you do that. You begin at the first stage of television. Have your program aired on Time Warner. Everyone has heard of Time Warner and once you are head on TW, your journey begins. Leave a note if you are interested in talking about camping in an audience.

I created this article on May 26, 2008.

Clinton Calls For Private Meeting With Obama - Bad News!

Note this article is just opinion and idea-related. Obama and Clinton had a private, closed meeting. And why? Your guess is as good as my guess. And so here is my guess.

It is my opinion that Clinton wanted to meet with Obama to suggest that she become Vice President. And it is my opinion that the meeting was private to save face for Clinton. Well, in case Obama does not want Clinton as Vice President, no one will know if Clinton suggested it. Yes, we know in public that Clinton never mentioned that she wants to be Vice President, but think about this. If you were running for President and you knew that you had lost the election, would you not want the second-best job? Of course, most people probably would. And so what better way to have the job then to approach Obama now--?

Look at it this way. If Clinton is made Vice President that certainly adds to her resume, her career and to her future at least. And one of the most surefire ways for her to become Vice President is by talking up to Obama, having a nice personal, closed conversation with him regarding the Vice Presidency. Do you doubt this?

Think about this-- What in the world kind of topic would need to be discussed in private? None. All throughout this campaign, both candidates have been discussing issues, world issues, national issues, personal issues and family issues in PUBLIC. Everything that could have been brought out has been brought out. Anything and everything has been on the table out in the open. So what in the world would need to be private?

Any of these issues?

Obama's upcoming Presidency? Congratulations? No, this issue , or this congrats certainly can be done in public, correct?
Apologies for the flaws, mistakes and things that happened in Clinton's campaign or running of the campaign? No, this can be done in public also.
Discussion of the upcoming elections --the one where we will elect the President? No, Again, this is done in public. No reason for secrecy.
World affairs, national affairs, local affairs? No. Again , there is no secrecy for these issues to be discussed in private at all.
Clinton's grab or demand for the Vice Presidency? Now you have it. This is the ONLY issue that might be needed to be in private--for Clinton's sake only. And that is why I believe that their private meeting was only about Clinton becoming Vice President. It makes sense--to Clinton--to discuss that in private. And why? Because if Clinton mentions or asks for that in public, she can be refused in public. Also, by having the discussion in private she saves face. She can also ask, in private, that Obama not tell anyone that she has asked for the Vice Presidency. And , Obama, being a man of his word and of honor will honor that request. So, there is the only reason for any private discussion.

I know not much about politics but I know lots about people, psychology, press, publicity and marketing and this private meeting has all the earmarks of bad news for Obama. Bad news? I mean bad news in the respect that perhaps Clinton might be able to convince Obama in private to take her on as the future Vice President. I believe that in public, she has no chance of convincing him and she does not want the public to know that she truly does want the Vice Presidency. But going in private with her, just bad news. She will try her best to insist that she get the Vice Presidency. That was what her last meeting of all her thousands of followers was about. She wants him to see that she has a following and thus convince him to take her on.

I hope that he has no more private meetings with Clinton or any related opponents.

What would I would have done?

If I was Obama's advisor or Press Secretary, I would advise him to not have any private meetings with Clinton or with any one of his rivals affiliates or relatives. This makes sense. There is absolutely no need for any private meetings between them. It is so ridiculous since every other issue has already been hashed out in public, on television, in debates and in public meetings.

I always say, when it comes to opponents running for the same office, there is NOTHING that cannot be said in public -- unless one is trying to get something from the other one. Oh, did I mention that it was Clinton's idea to have the meeting, not Obama's idea? Some news reports only state that they are having a meeting and they left out the important fact that this private meeting was and is all Clinton's idea and suggestion.

What do you think?

Perfect Laptop Desk, A Solution to All Furniture Problems

What is the best way to use a laptop? If you are like me, you want something as portable as the laptop is. That solves all problems. If you have a laptop instead of a desktop, then right off the bat , you know that you are a person that values portability, style and comfortability. So why burden that laptop with a big, old, elephant-size desk?

Producers Need Portability: So many times, us producers need that portability because we are on the run and sometimes in pre-production for more than two shows at one time. Finding the best furniture for computers is a number one goal when it comes to setting up a nice office. Whether you are a network producer or a community access producer, you can benefit from portability rather than from being stuck in one place all the time. Moving your workspace really opens up your creativity. And, finding that proper portable desk for your laptop might be the solution to your creativity problems.

Desk Variety: There are all kinds of desks in the office supply stores and more kinds of desks inside furniture stores. You can choose one with ten drawers or you can choose one with six drawers. There are desks with locks and desks without locks, desks made of plastic and desks made of chipboard or of real wood. There are those on wheels and those that stand still and defy you to move them anywhere.

If you are of the laptop mind, you want portability and ease of moving that desk around to wherever you want it to be. So where do you find the best desk for your purposes? You will find it in the last place that you would expect to find it. Go shopping in the thrift stores; shop in the flea markets and in the garage sales. Look around for weeks or months if need be. You will eventually find that perfect desk for you. If you have been window-shopping in the all the office supply and furniture stores, you will notice that so many of the pieces look alike. But when you go to the antique stores, flea markets and garage sales, you will find treasures that will make your eyes and heart smile forever.

Look for that small table top with the wheels. It is not exactly like the hospital tables but it is built along that concept. The perfect laptop desk has one leg. Yes, one leg. It has a pulpit-type surface. Right there your laptop goes. And the winning feature also are the four wheels. Now you and your laptop can go anywhere.

Look online to see if someone has such a desk and you will have the very best desk for your laptop.

Writer's Block, Not on My Block! How to Beat Writer's Block

I do not participate in writer's block. Correct. I just do not participate. If there is a time when I sit down to write and nothing comes to mind, I begin right there. I write down that I have nothing to write about. And then I think, except. Ye s and it is that exception that I begin writing about. It does not matter whether that exception is an interesting topic or not. It is that exception that gets my creative energies buzzing and it is that exception that gets me writing again in a time when I thought that I had absolutely nothing to write about.

What do you do when you have writer's block? Do you get up from your chair and go away from the desk? Do you just give up? Or do you insist on writing even when there is nothing? From experience I will tell you that BOTH of those solutions are quite acceptable but one of them is the true writer's solution. If you have the blood of a writer, you can write a novel about a doorknob and then write three more stories about what it is like to be a doorknob, where to find the best doorknobs and what a doorknob's job is in other countries. DO you see what I mean? Out of nowhere comes the idea for a story, for a an article or who knows, even for an entire book.

And all you have to do is to keep on writing. AND if you are a true writer, you write as you breathe not as you get ideas. You just write. Now, there you go. You have just read an entire article that I just wrote when I had a temporary writer's block. And now I will put this article up for publication at the Ezine site. And prove to you that you CAN write even when you have nothing to write about. PLUS, not only that but someone will read what you wrote. You are reading it, are you not? So, go ahead, write when you have nothing to write about. Just write about writing and that will get you started and on the way to writing about other subjects. Trust me on this one. This works.

Just write!

Cable & Satellite Services Connect You Globally

Cable and satellite services are two systems that provide television programs and subscriptions with a wider range of channels that include subscriptions or pay-per-view. Cable service has limited coverage compared to satellite service but is more accessible and affordable to many television consumers. Satellite service, on the other hand, transmit signals using communications satellites. This is often used by most broadcasting companies and wealthy individuals who can purchase or rent the services of satellites. However, new technology has now produced satellite discs that are both portable and affordable. This can also be accessed through cable companies in different parts of the globe.

Cable service or television can transmit signals using radio frequencies through fixed optical fibers or coaxial cables. Before cable services, the most common way to watch television and receive transmission was by using a television antenna. The origin of cable can be traced back to the abbreviation CATV which means Cable TV but originally stood for Community Antenna Television. This started cable television in 1948 and spread throughout North America, Europe and East Asia. Nowadays, most parts of the globe enjoy cable services which are provided locally or internationally.

Satellite service, on the other hand, transmit signals using communication satellites which can provide a wider range of channels and other services locally and from other countries abroad. This technology first took root in 1962 through the first satellite television signal coming from Europe using the Telstar satellite then going over to North America. Subsequently, other communication satellites were launched into orbit for broadcasting and delivering television signals to ground downlink stations which were responsible for providing services to television consumers. Currently, direct satellite links are available using portable satellite discs and services which are now affordable to many individuals.

Cable and satellite services fill the need of the viewing public to learn more about other cultures and current events from other countries other than theirs. These have widened opportunities of many individuals to simultaneously learn and watch what is happening around the globe such as crucial events happening in war-stricken countries, natural disasters and the shocking moments brought about by 9/11. Cable and satellite services have somehow bridged the gap between nations and provided prospects to help each other out in times of distress brought about by disasters made by both men and nature. These are a pair of technological wonders which when used effectively can have more impact and advantages in many aspects of the economy and peace around the world.

There are hundreds of cable and satellite services providers worldwide which are accessible by most viewing public such as Cable TV Hong Kong, Cable TV Wasaka Obama in Japan, Foxtel, Telenet in Belgium, Cablevision in the USA and Canada, Net Brasil, SkyCable in the Philippines, Time Warner, UPC Ireland and Romania, Arab Digital Distribution, Astro, Sky Digital, NOVA Greece, and Dish Network, among many others.

Have You Thought About Your Own Funeral?

Funeral! You say the word and people either cringe or break down in tears or say, shhhh. No one likes to talk about funerals. Even at funerals people talk about other things, about family, about who got bigger and how long they have not seen each other. Once in a while someone mentions the person who has died. Some funeral memorial ceremonies or wakes are like small parties. Others are like wailing contests full of sobbing people, people clutching each other and hugging and crying. Most times, the crying is for the people who are still alive. They are the ones who miss the person who has passed on, and they are the ones who experience the pain, the loss -- if the deceased was liked or loved. Once in a while you will see a happy funeral ceremony. Happy? Yes, happy is the word, even more so, joyful. Those who are joyful at a funeral are those who truly know and believe in Heaven and know their loved ones went to Heaven the very instant that they died from this world.

So, funerals are generally the un-talked about item. Everyone is afraid of it. Even I, an experience writer, hesitated writing this article. You know the superstitions and all and then I realized, hey, wait, I am not superstitious at all. So here is the article.

What would my own funeral be like? (Well, hopefully that will not happen for quite some time, for many, many years as I plan to have many more happy and joyful years on earth. And though I am not in complete control of my destiny or fate, I will do my best humanly possible to stay alive, well and healthy. So, now that is out in the open, I will discuss the actual funeral and memorial services as I would like to have it.

When I die, I want my closest relatives and friends to be happy for me, yes to be joyful for me. Because at the moment of my death, my wings are taking me skyward faster than you can blink your eyes. And so, since I plan to be joyful and happy, I would hope that everyone else would also. (Ha ha, I suppose some of the strangers or other acquaintances might be happy just because I will stop writing here, but still, hey happy is a good thing).

I have a dress all ready. I can see the shocked looks already on your faces as I said the word dress, but hey, I have one favorite dress. Haha, just kidding. A pair of jeans and a shirt will be just fine. After all, I need to be comfortable correct? Actually sometimes I think about the prospect of cremation. I have been to two cremation events, one a wake and one a memorial --weeks after a wake. And I kind of like the way these were handled. No one staring at you or needing to or having to stare at the body. (After all, I will be in Heaven, remember?). And with one of the ceremonies, there were photographs all around the room, photos of the happy times, fun times and all the lifetimes in between. These events were interesting, thorough and thoughtful and good memorials to those people who had passed away.

So, got the dress down, and possibly photographs all around. I think that idea is cool. And now, what about music? I would love to have the music of these songs, I Hope You Dance, It Is Well, and of course Amazing Grace, but last but not least, as the memorial begins and is over at the end, I would love to play that song called, I'll Fly Away. That is a most beautiful song and quite appropriate and applicable for a funeral.

Yes, I know you are just getting into this article now so it is time that I end the article and ask you to read the rest of it in the next article posted about the same topic. I will pick up here where I left off. And I hope you leave some comments there also.

Direct TV Provides Coverage Of A Variety Of Topics

Direct TV can provide you with a lot of benefits when you subscribe to it, and the massive number of channels that it can deliver to your home is just one of those benefits. The freedom to choose how many of those channels you need is another major advantage to satellite TV service with Direct TV.

Another advantage to subscribing to Direct TV is the ability to get special programming. For example, you can get a variety of seasonal sports subscriptions. First there's the Sports Pack service which will give you over twenty five regional sports network channels and specialty sports channels all for a low monthly fee. If you love football NFL's Sunday Ticket may be just the ticket for you. You'll be able to take your pick of NFL games throughout the regular football season. NBA League Pass is a great choice if you love basketball. NBA League Pass will deliver up to forty NBA games a week for every week of the regular season. Hockey fans will love NHL Center Ice which also provides up to forty games every week of the normal hockey season. ESPN Full Court delivers up to thirty games of basketball for the college sports enthusiast every week for the regular college season. If you love soccer, MLS Direct Kick will provide all of the best regular season matches and even some of the playoff games after the regular season is over. Direct TV also offers Mega March Madness to complement CBS Sports' coverage of the NCAA Men's Division One tournaments. MLB Extra Innings is the source for all of the games that you can't catch any other way during the regular baseball season. MLB Extra Innings delivers up to sixty games every week! If you love soccer, you might want to sign up for Barclays English Premier League or Sentanta Sports. Both provide plenty of great soccer action and Sentata Sports provides coverage of other European sports besides soccer. ESPN Game Plan rounds out Direct TV's offering of sports with coverage of up to fifteen college football games every Saturday over the course of the regular season.

Direct TV also provides plenty of other types of programming besides just sports. For example, a variety of foreign language programming is a great way to stay connected to your home country or to deepen your understanding of a foreign language that you're trying to learn. You can also get a variety of adult programming from Direct TV . Directv programming and service are superior to Dish Network, Cox Communications, Time Warner, Charter Communications, CableVision all the other cable television providers.

If you have a high definition television set and really want to get the ultimate television experience, you should seriously consider adding high definition television channels to your subscription. High definition television provides a much sharper more detailed picture than Directv's already sharp all digital programming. You'll also enjoy the full movie screen like picture on high definition programming that your HDTV set is capable of. High definition television programming from Direct TV provides coverage of a variety of topics including the sports and movies that lend themselves to high definition so well, but also a variety of more nationwide network programming, news, special events and much more.

Direct TV Pay Per View is also a great way to get more variety. You'll have access to Pay Per View selections in standard definition as well as high definition programming. You'll even have access to pay per view options when it comes to adult programming.

There are a great number of benefits to subscribing to Direct TV and you owe it to yourself and your family to take advantage of them now. Switch to the best satellite television provider with the best service. Start now.

Use Your Resources to Succeed in Life

So, you think that you have good resources? Or perhaps you are reading this because you know that you do not have good resources. Whatever your reasons for reading, you will gain at least one resource before you end the day today. This article is to give you ideas about the resources that are all around us. It is just a helpful-hint artilce about using the resources around us. Some of our educational and career resources are obvious while others are hidden. It is up to you to use the resources that are best for your particular situation.

In your life, your resources will be of a variety of items, people and places. Some of the resources that you have available to you are humans, books, encyclopedias, museums, newspapers, magazines, search sites, and other websites. You can use other websites for brainstorming ideas, and for stirring your creativity. Pay close attention to your work and make sure that your work is entirely yours. When using resources to quote special items, make sure that your quotes are indented and or in quotation marks or both. Set aside the quote so that the reader knows exactly what is your work and what you are quoting. With that in mind, use any and all resources to help you advance in your own television production work. Here are some ideas:

Reference Books: Reference books are the best kinds of books you can find. Having a reference book is like having an entire library at your fingertips. Examples of reference books are the books that Mathew Lesko writes. He writes books that list all the resources that people have available to them in their own communities and also about resources that are available in the world. Look up Lesko on the net and see what you can come up with. So some good resource books are any and all of those books by the authors, Mathew Lesko, Wayne W. Dyer, Suze Ormann, Napoleon Hill, and some of the other productive, creative authors who have reached fame by achieving their own goals on a grand scale. You might want to use reference books such as the Gale books or such as the yellow pages. You would be surprised what ideas can come from the yellow pages. Most see this book as merely advertisement, but the informed reader sees the book as a great resource. Years ago, a friend of mine was looking for a job, and decided not to go the regular route but to just pick up the yellow pages and search for a job that way. She came to the baseball paces and decided to apply as secretary for the New York Yankees. Wow. What a bold move. She went to the interview. (Remember there was no advertisement that anyone was looking for a secretary, but only ad add for Yankee Stadium. She applied for a job that she did not even know existed. As it turned out, George Steinbrenner was looking for a secretary but it had not been announced yet. Guess who got this job? Yes, my friend got the job. So, use your imagination. Do something out of the box , out of the ordinary, and you will be successful in whatever you want to do.

Referral: Referral -wow, now that is a tool. And it is a tool worth using all the time if you have it. Tell everyone you know about your new business if you are beginning a new business. If you are producing a television show, tell everyone. Someone you tell might not be interested in your show, but someone they tell just might be looking for something like your television show. So shout it out to the hills; give your show all the free publicity that you can give it. And get and give referrals. This is where your respect pays off. Most times if you respect people, they will respect you. And the more respect you have and receive and give, the more referrals you are likely to come by.

So those are just some of the resources we have available to all of us that are interested in doing television shows. What resources are available in your own community? As a bonus, I give you a great resource right here. Did you know that you can do free research in the New York State Supreme Court Law Library? All you need to do is produce proper photo identification and you can do your research there. Call them first to make sure that rule still applies or ask what else you need to bring with you. (Before September 11th, anyone could enter with just a NYS driver's license and or government or student photo identification card; check for updated rules and regulations).

Your Best Resources: One of the best resources that you have is the television set that you see in front of you or your computer. From these two things you can watch recent community access shows and find ones that you would like to use in your own experience. When you watch a show and you see something that you like or something that interests you, that will spur your imagination and your creativity. You can get ideas about what it is that viewers might like to see on your own show. If you watch a show that you do not like at all, then you know right away what you will not do when producing your own show. So in that way, watching television for short periods of time, can be quite useful to you in your learning times.

Thousands of Free Television Shows: If you have no television in your home, you can watch some shows on youtube.com Though I have put some shows in there in the past, I am unaffiliated with that website. When you get to that site, put in a search for MNN, BCAT, Bronxnet , or SICTV. You will find many community access programs that are from all areas of our great state.

Reference Sites: Reference sites - same as reference books only better. You can have tons of libraries at your fingertips when you find a good reference site. I belong to a group of television producers, hosts, co-hosts, audiences and talent (wow, all in one group), and at that particular group, you can find the most awesome listings for references and resources for almost any subject in life. For example one time there was a free course listed. The course ordinarily would cost hundreds of dollars but in this group there was a link to the course and the admission was free. So, that to me is one of the good reference websites. That happens to be a private yahoo reference website so you need an invitation. So all readers of my articles here are invited to apply for free membership of that group. If you send an email and say you want to join the "growingtvshows" yahoo group, I will send the link to you. Or check out my website there and find the link there to the free group. To find good reference websites go to http://www.dogpile.com You will find this search engine quite helpful in locating almost anything you need for your television shows.

Hope you use all the resources that you have available and hope that you share your resources with all your friends and neighbors -give and get, that is the policy. I created this article on June 05, 2008.

Direct TV The Best Satellite TV Service

Direct TV is the worlds largest satellite television provider. With millions of people signed up since 1994 and hundreds of new subscribers signing up every day you might wonder why Direct TV is so successful. The truth is that even though there's no single factor that Directv relies on for their phenomenal success, any one of them could be a good reason to become a subscriber. Cutting edge technology, the ultimate in convenience, diverse programming, great value, and superior customer service are all contributing factors.

Direct TV uses state of the art digital satellite technology to deliver crystal clear pictures and CD quality sound through even it's most basic receiver packages. A customizable on-screen program guide comes standard and allows you to see what's available to watch now and for hours to come. The program guide can even store profiles of what each family member likes to watch so the family's movie buff won't have to wade through all of the sports channels every time they want to see what's on.

More advanced Directv hardware set ups can include High Definition Television (HDTV) capabilities and Digital Video Recording (DVR). High Definition Television provides an even higher degree of quality of sound and picture that brings the action right into the room with you. The Digital Video Recorder makes Direct TV even more convenient by letting you record one show while watching another or recording a program while you're out of the house without juggling video cassettes and the programming frustrations associated with the now obsolete VCR. Digital Video Recording is fully integrated with the on-screen program guide, so all you have to do is select the show you want to record, and let the DVR do the rest. Digital Video Recording also takes a step beyond the VCR's abilities by allowing you to pause, rewind, and replay live television!

Direct TV's parental controls provide an additional convenience, and level of safety, for households with children. Parents can control what their children watch based on content, channel, viewing time, and specific programming as well as place spending limits on pay per view purchases. By using their own passwords, parents can watch what they want and not have to worry about what the kids are watching when they aren't around.

Direct TV provides diverse programming options in value conscious packages. Ranging from the budget minded Family Choice package offering forty channels up to Total Choice Premier, Direct TV can provide local programming, movies, music through XM satellite radio, sports, and educational and religious programming. Extras including seasonal sports subscriptions, Spanish language programming, adult channels, and high definition (HD) programming can be added as well.

Customer service is another great reason to go with Direct TV Satellite. New Directv customers can get professional installation in up to four rooms, up to four Directv receivers with remote controls, a free satellite dish, and equipment upgrades like Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and High Definition Television (HDTV) receivers. And the customer service doesn't stop when the system is installed. On screen demos help you get aquainted with the system fast, and customer service is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week through a toll free number.

With great programming, state of the art technology and the convenience that comes with it, combined with great customer service, it's no wonder Direct TV is the nation's leading satellite television provider. These directv offers are superior to Dish Network, CableVision, Charter Communications, Comcast and all other cable televison offers. This is the end of your search. Switch to the best. Start now.

Tears For This Triple-Header! Movies That Touch Your Heart

First, some background information about me, I am not a movie-buff. Generally, I do not know the names of stars or the names of current movies. And yes, I have had the experience of people mentioning movies to me and I say I have not seen them or never heard of them and they react in surprise, asking me what cave was I hiding in.

Not hiding in any caves, and I am in this century. I just do not generally have time to go to the movies. And on the rare times that I do, I want to make sure that it is an excellent movie, not just a mediocre one. So I choose wisely. I cannot remember the last time that I went to the movies, nor can I remember the name of it. Perhaps it was that one about the adorable rat named Ratatoille. So what kind of movies do I enjoy? I can not say that I enjoy any particular kind of movie. I like one with a story, either a true story or great story. And generally I am not big on documentaries. But surprisingly enough, one of this week's movies was a partial documentary.

Two of the movies were in different languages and I had to read the subtitles to enjoy the movies. One was in an African language and one was in either Israeli or Hebrew (I am not sure which one or if both of the languages are the same). And the third movie that I borrowed was in English, an extra treat since I speak only English and some little Spanish and one word in Chinese.

I totally recommend these three movies but you must have to be able to enjoy subtitles for the two. Here they are:

Emmanuel's Gift, Watermarks, and The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. I recommend them only if you want to watch positive movies that have a very positive and inspiring message. And, only if you can tolerate a sad movie. All three movies had their own degrees of sadness and sadness to the point where they all brought tears to my eyes. The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio, though not about domestic violence, had a few scenes of domestic violence in it. But, please note, the story was not about domestic violence. This story was about the strength, fortitude, determination and love that one woman had for her children and for herself. She was a remarkable woman, and there were parts of this film that will just make you cry.

ALL three of these movies are very necessary movies and I believe that all three should be required viewing in all high schools and in all colleges. It is about time that we had some required things that have such long-lasting, positive and inspiring messages to them. If you have seen any of these movies, leave a comment here or send an email. I would like to hear your opinion of all three or of any of them.

Cheerios For Fish Food - How to Feed Fish

What is the best fish food for your pets and or for your tropical showcases of salt water fish? Everyone has a different opinion about this one. But some have chosen their fish food merely by what the pet store tells them. That really limits you and limits your fish. If you are looking to grow, large, healthy, creative and unusually happy fish, then you need to go one step above what the fish guy tells you.

First you decide the purpose for your fish, the reason why you purchased them or obtained them other ways and then after you figure out your purpose, you can then figure out the proper food for them. Do you want regular, tiny fish swimming in the tank, run of the mill fish? Or do you want prize fish, fish that look a little bigger, fish that are a little more happier? Do you want to see your fish run to the top of the tank to get their old, dried fish food or do you want them to eat more like they eat out in nature, in the wild, by hunting for their own food, and getting that exercise that this hunting gives to them?

If you want the more natural feeding, then you would choose , live food. Next step below that would be frozen food that was once live and last but not least, is that dried food or flake food that comes in those round cylinders.
Here are things to consider when buying fish food:

1. Are your fish bottom feeders or top feeders? Bottom feeders might enjoy food that will drop to the bottom and or float-either way. Buy some Tubifex live worms. The pet store guy will have these in the refrigerator there. They look like brownish, reddish messy ball of tiny string worms. They smell horribly but I gather the fish love this. If you drop a small ball in the tank your fish will scurry up to get them immediately.

2. If you have salt water fish or tropical fish, you might want to try live brine shrimp as their meals. Of course you can supplement any fish meals with dried or flake food also.

You can purchase brand name food or no-frills food and your fish will survive just as well. So , how do I know this? I was raising some feeding fish once, and I ran out of fish food. So I crushed some Cheerios between my fingers and I fed the fish that food. They loved it, thrived on it so I never went back to using regular fish food. These fish grew big, from tiny little feeding fish. So my Cheerios were successful. Do not try anything that I write about as this was my own experience and I cannot guarantee it works for you or your particular kind of fish. IF you were going to experiment with this, you might begin by using your regular fish food and supplementing with Cheerios. That is just a thought, not a suggestion or instruction. Good luck!

If you have a fish that has a good possibility to grow larger and you want a large fish, you can begin feeding that fish tubifex and graduate to real earthworms as the fish gets larger. You can have one astronautis oscellatus in your tank, that you purchased when he was about half-inch long, and by feeding and raising this fish properly, you can grow this same fish to be one or two feet big. Amazing growth for an amazing fish. We had one like this and fed huge, large earthworms to him. The original fish cost us under two dollars and grew to be quite a monster.

Remember when you are buying a fish, sometimes you will pay next to nothing for the fish itself. What brings the real expense to the hobby of raising fish is the feeding, housing, filtering of water and the decorative aspects of displaying the fish and tank. Hope this article helped you. Read my other articles that will be published in the near future about fish food, feeding fish, raising guppies, and more specific articles about specific fish and fish-related hobbies. The author has raised fish in the past, and has had experience raising and caring for many different kinds of animals throughout the years of her life. Any and all questions, comments and remarks are greatly appreciated.

I write from the heart about many subjects, and the experience that I write about is from life. If you read any pet articles here on my webpage, most times, I have had those pets, raised them or watched the pets for other people.

Old People Die - Not! Age Has Nothing to Do With Death, But Health Does

What do you think of when you think of death and dying? Are you like most people who just immediately think that you have to be old to be dead or dying? If so, you had better re-evaluate your ideas after you hear what I have to say. Death and dying is no more related to old people, or seniors than it is related to young people or cheese sandwiches. In other words, you cannot say that someone is dying or near death simply because they are old. That judgment is far from the truth. Fact is that most people not die from old age, but they die from illness and accidents, and they die from murders and from all sorts of things that really are not related to old age. Some people, even those that are old, might die but might die from unforeseen circumstances.

Young people die too. Healthy people die. So our assumptions that death and dying is just for the old people who are not healthy is a mistaken idea. I know someone who was near death, a ten year old who had open-heart surgery. And I met someone (years prior to this) who was just about eighteen years old who was killed while trying to change a flat tire right off the Belt Parkway. And I know someone of age 45 who died right at her dining room table in the middle of dinner and none of her family had any clue at all that she was even sick. There are babies who die, I know of two of them and there are all sorts of ages in between who die or who come so near death they are given last rights already.

The point that I am making is that death and dying are not solely things that affect old people or seniors, but death and dying affects anyone and everyone who is alive. So, put away your misconceptions about old people dying and realize that people never ever die of old age, but rather they die of medical complications, of malpractice or gross negligence. Or they die from lack of food or from other related things. Bottom line is that you will no longer walk around with that misconception of those old-age myths of death and dying.

Which Artist is the Greatest Artist in the World?

Imagine this - Imagine being able to meet Picasso, Michaelangelo, or one of the other famous artists in history. Imagine being able to speak with that artist, to hear from him, to express yourself to him. Imagine being able to touch the masterpieces that now sell for many millions of dollars. Could you even imagine even being in the same room with any of those artists? What about Degas? What would you do to be in his presence? There are so many wonderful artists, both dead and both alive. What about today's current artists. What about the artists in the past, the artists' whose work graces the walls and hallways of the Louvre? Would you want to meet any of them?

Have you ever had an opportunity like this? Probably not. But what if you could meet the best artist in the world, the most-well-known and most popular artist, would you make arrangements to do that? What if you could meet this artist for free (no charges, no fees, no money)? What would you do then. You would jump at that opportunity, correct?

Well, yesterday I had an opportunity like that, a very rich opportunity. In one single day, I had the opportunity to meet the world's most famous artist, and we went to lunch together. We sat there quietly, while I spoke and He listened. It should have been the other way around, correct? I should have been the one listening not the one talking but there I was, talking my head off. And still, it was okay. This was my opportunity of a lifetime. Would this chance ever happen again? Would I have this chance again in my lifetime? And did I share this with anyone? Wow. What would you have done if this was you and this was your opportunity? Would you have shared it with me? Would you have called me up and said, "Hey, I've got the greatest artist in the world here, come have lunch with us!"?

How many would do that? Or would you keep it a secret for yourself? Anyways, what I am writing about is this, I had this great chance yesterday and today again, it will happen again. I offer this opportunity to you also, because I do believe in sharing. And now, the secret is out. Well, I guess like the book THE SECRET, this really is not a secret either, but it is just a fact that people keep forgetting and no one remembers on a daily basis.

The greatest artist in the world, in the planet, well, the best, most famous, most popular artist in this world is God.

Yes, the greatest artist is God. And you and I have a chance to be with this greatest artist, not only every day but every single moment in our lives. Imagine that? Imagine living with the greatest artist in the world? And, I do. We do, everyone reading this does have access to the greatest artist in the world.

Why? For Heaven's sake, why do I say that? After all, you probably have read many books on art and probably have not seen God's name in there amongst the names of Picasso, or Degas or Chagall. But yet, we have living proof every single day that God reigns in the art world, in the nature world and He excels in every single thing that is on this earth.

I say this because I have seen the sky and the ocean. And there are no other more beautiful things in the planet (except of course babies and children), than these natural works of art. God is the One Who created awesome rivers, lakes, oceans and lands. God is the One Who created the North and South Pole and everything, and every land and every person in between the poles. When I look at the eagles, and owls, and when I look at the puffy white clouds in the sky, I remember that is my artist, my own, my very own most magnificent artist in the whole world. God created it all for me. Now you understand? Now you know why I have the opportunity to be with the world's most famous artist every day of my life. I have a God, the God, who made the seas, the sky, the land, the ice, the water, the weather and even the lightening bolts and He created them in magnificent beauty. Ahh, imagine that!

That beautiful, beautiful, sensitive, beaming baby is the best work of art that you will ever see in your whole lifetime, and the greatest artist in the world, only God, is responsible for creating all life.
